The Master of Science Program in "Health Economics and Management" is designed for students who are currently employed in, or aim to pursue a career in, the healthcare sector.
The program provides the necessary tools for specialization by combining the application of economic theories and methodologies to the analysis of the healthcare sector with policy design and analysis regarding healthcare financing and service delivery; it also examines contemporary issues arising in the management of healthcare organizations across both the public and private sectors.
Students come from diverse academic backgrounds, including Health Sciences (Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, etc.), Economics and Business (Finance, Business Administration, etc.), and the Natural Sciences (Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Informatics, etc.), among others. The student body comprises recent graduates and professionals from various sectors, including: clinicians and healthcare professionals from both the public and private sectors; analysts and executives from insurance organizations and companies; professionals working in financial management and health services administration; members of government and non-governmental organizations and regulatory authorities; and executives from pharmaceutical and consultancy firms specializing in the economic evaluation and pricing of health services.
The program's primary objective is to provide postgraduate students with up-to-date knowledge—focusing on both theoretical and practical training—enabling them to develop or enhance the skills needed to effectively meet the ever-increasing challenges of the healthcare sector.
