The Master of Science Programme "Health Economics and Management" is aimed at students who are working, or aim to work, in the healthcare sector.
The programme provides the necessary tools for gaining specialized expertise by combining the application of economic theories and methodologies in the analysis of the healthcare sector with the design and analysis of policy on the financing and delivery of health services, and it examines contemporary problems arising in the management of healthcare organizations in both the public and private sectors.
Students come from a variety of academic backgrounds in the Health Sciences (Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, etc.), the Economic Sciences (Finance, Business Administration, etc.), and the Natural/Applied Sciences (Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, etc.), among others. The student body is made up of recent graduates and professionals from different fields, including: clinical physicians and healthcare professionals from the public and private sectors, analysts and executives of insurance organizations and companies, professionals working in the financial management and administration of health services, members of governmental and non-governmental organizations and Regulatory Authorities, and executives of pharmaceutical companies and consulting firms specializing in economic evaluation and the pricing of health services.
The programme's main objective is to provide postgraduate students with up-to-date knowledge focused on both their theoretical and practical training, so that they can develop or advance the skills that will best prepare them to respond to the continuously growing challenges of the healthcare sector.
